How it works: Insulated Glass Units
Most modern glazing is built around an Insulated Glass Unit (IGU): two or more panes of glass separated by a spacer, with the gap sealed and filled with air or inert gas. The quality of the spacer and the glass on either side of it determines how well the whole system performs — keeping warmth in, moisture out and condensation off your glass.
XR Edge advanced spacer technology
Fairview uses XR Edge advanced spacer technology across its entire range. XR Edge creates a complete barrier around all four sides of the IGU, preventing moisture from entering, eliminating internal condensation and fogging, and forming a thermal barrier between the two panes. Independent laboratory testing shows XR Edge IGUs are up to three times more durable than standard IGUs on the New Zealand market.

Understanding R-values
The R-value of a window or door system measures its thermal resistance — how well it prevents heat from escaping. The higher the R-value, the better it insulates. Because R-value accounts for the complete system every component plays a part in your home's overall performance.
